The Indian Railways has made ID proof mandatory for all the reserved passengers. Earlier only tatkal passengers have to show the ID proof. Recently the Indian railways announced the passengers who are travelling in reserved compartments must carry an Identity proof card with them.
Passengers should carry identity card issued by the government or some private organizations recognized by the government.
Passengers should carry any one of the following ID card with them during the train journey:
- Voter Identity card issued by the election commission.
- Aadhaar Card issued by the government
- RTO issued driving licence.
- PAN card issued by the IT department
- Bank passbook with photo
- Student ID card
- Credit card with a photo
- Any government issued Identity card
Passengers Make sure to carry any one of the above mentioned ID card with you. Though the passengers are carrying id card with them, some ticket collectors are not checking for the ID cards. TC’s should change and check for the ID card.
